The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is excited to announce a joint broadcast partnership with Access Communications Co-operative Limited in launching the SJHL Game of the Week live via webcasts on the SJHL website and multiple rebroadcasts on the Access community channel Access7.
The SJHL will use league-employed announcers, coupled with the production team from Access Communications, to produce a dynamic program every Friday night for viewers to watch live on the internet and for Access customers to see rebroadcast every Thursday and Saturday on the co-operative’s community channel, Access7.
Each webcast game will be shown live on the SJHL website as a Pay Per View or a Season Pass. Access7 viewers will enjoy the rebroadcasts at no charge with their cable subscription.
The SJHL Game of the Week will have a comprehensive pre-game show coupled with the SJHL inside the Dressing Room intermission segments after the first two periods. One intermission will focus on the Sherwood Conference, the other intermission on the newly named Bauer Conference. There is also going to be a postgame component that will feature interviews from that night’s game.
This partnership with Access Communications is a natural fit for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League as Access has recently expanded their communications footprint across the province and will soon begin broadcasting in ten of the eleven Saskatchewan centers that have SJHL clubs.
The SJHL Game of the Week begins with the regular season opening on September 18th featuring the Weyburn Red Wings at Yorkton Terriers. All eleven Saskatchewan based clubs will host at least one game throughout the regular season and the Credit Union Cup champion Humboldt Broncos will be featured eight times this season.
Those SJHL fans who are also Access Communications’ cable customers will be able to enjoy the broadcast of the SJHL Game of the Week on television by tuning into Access7. This is part of an enhanced commitment by Access Communications; SJ This Week, the only half-hour weekly program featuring highlights and interviews from the league, will precede the weekly game broadcast, offering viewers throughout the province an entire evening dedicated to Saskatchewan’s Junior A Hockey..
The SJHL Game of the Week further enhances the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League as an extremely progressive Junior ‘A’ hockey league. The SJHL continues to set trends across the country by partnering with leading-edge technology providers like Access Communications to bring all the excitement of junior hockey to their many fans, using a variety of broadcast mediums.
“The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has made a commitment to grow the game and introduce the Junior A Game to a greater number of Saskatchewan hockey fans. Access is the largest television provider in Saskatchewan reaching more than 120,000 homes in 10 of 11 Saskatchewan based teams in the SJHL’ States President Laury Ryan” Their expanded coverage in Saskatchewan will only enhance the solid fan base we have across the province”.
