Canucks 4 Blades 3

DAWSON CREEK -- Beaverlodge returned to the Memorial Arena on Sunday afternoon and almost left with a victory.  The Dawson Creek Canucks were pushed to the limit but held off the Blades 4-3.

Colter McLean opened the scoring at the 13:41 mark of the opening period when he took the puck all the way from inside the Canucks blue line down to the Beaverlodge zone and muscled a shot through Tavis Clark and into the back of the net.  The lead didn't last long as the Blades tied it with a shot from a tough angle that beat Tyson York who was in goal for the third straight game.

The Canucks took the lead for the second time in the game very early in the second.  Just 56 seconds in Jason Higson threw the puck on goal and it banked in of of a Beaverlodge defender past Tavis Clark.  The Blades would answer to tie the game at two but Tyson Keen would change that before the break.  With just 10 seconds left Keen walked in from the blue line and snapped the puck under the glove of Clark into the back of the net.  3-2 after two.

The Blades would tie things up very early in the third with a nice passing play deflected in to the top corner over the shoulder of York at the 1:39 mark.  The game changed with one shift with five minutes to play.  Coincidentally this was the Safeway turning point.  Ryan Walker did all the work getting the puck to the net and Lucas McKenzie poked in the loose puck for the game winner.

Brass Scissors three stars: 1) Tyson Keen 2) Ryan Walker 3) Bobby Bailey

Canucks were 1 for 7 on the power play while the penalty kill was good 5 of 6 times.
