A pair of goals from Jason Higson in his return to the line up helped give the Canucks their 5th straight victory.
It started just under eight minutes into the game with the Canucks shorthanded 4 on 3. Fort St John goaltender Zachary Blain came out of his net and misplayed the puck. Colter McLean ended up with the biscuit on his stick and found the back of the empty basket.
Kyle Porter tied it midway through the first and then Tyson Keen potted his first on a deflection from a Justin McLeod shot to give the Canucks the lead heading into the break.
After a power play goal from the Huskies Cody Kalb in the second, the Canucks responded just past the midway point with back to back goals from Gerritt Lacey (1st) and Jason Higson (4th).
The third was all Canucks as well and they put it away. Higson's power play goal, his second of the night, and Lorne Weavers first of the year made the final 6-2.
Near the end there were a few fights. It started with Lucas McKenzie and Jason Arnousee not getting much of a chance to throw any bombs. Call it a draw.
Then it was the main event. Reed Smith and Kyle porter went at it. A pair of heavyweights were throwing some bombs back a forth and landing them too. Credit Smith with the take down and at that point he took control. Give the unanimous decision to Smith.
The fight fest concluded with Apsassin and Hornland. Give Apsassin the take down and the decision in not much of a tilt.
Canucks were 1 for 7 with the extra man while the penalty kill was successful 9 of 10 times.
Three stars from the broadcast:

2nd star: Justin McLeod (3A)
