Game day Friday

It's been a few days since I've posted here and for that I apologize.

Let's start with Thursday's results in 9-man football and it was good.

Melville 67 Swan Valley 13
Sacred Heart 17 Fort Qu'Appelle 7
Martensville 28 Kindersley 30
Delisle 39 Warman 7
Meadow Lake 47 Unity 34

Josh Lewis of the Kindersley Clarion has a good write up on the Kindersley/Martensville game and calls it possibly the most important game in two decades. Check out the post and audio from coach Al Neufeld by clicking here.

Let's get to today's games. Here's the line-up:

Conference 1: North East Football League
Nipawin Bears
Foam Lake Panthers
4:00 PM
Tisdale Tornadoes
Melfort Comets
4:00 PM
Humboldt Mohawks
Wynyard Bears
4:00 PM
Conference 2: South West Athletic Conf.
Maple Creek Redmen
Assiniboia Rockets
4:30 PM

There are a few questions that I'm asking to myself:

1) Can Assiniboia keep winning close games over Maple Creek? I think the Redmen could pull one off.

2) Can Wynyard take advantage of a Humboldt team that is playing their third game in just over a week? A Bears win would be huge for their provincial chances.

3) Can the Foam Lake Panthers bounce back and show what they're capable of? It's funny to say they need to bounce back from a win (30-28 over Melfort) but a win is crucial this week and they need to be more dominant than that.

4) Finally, the Melfort Comets host Tisdale and look to get back on the winning track. Ok, that's not a question but just had to make a comment on the last game.

Enjoy the day of high school football.
