The 2010 9-man football season kicks off this afternoon in Melville as the Cobras host the Sacred Heart Saints.
The Cobras will be looking to improve on their 3-3 record from last season. The team lost out in league playoffs to the eventual provincial champion Lumsden Devils 53-20.
The Saints are coming off a very strong year for the program in which they went 4-2 and nearly knocked off the provincial finalist Swan Valley Tigers losing 38-29 in ECFL playoffs.
The Cobras should no doubt have a bitter taste in their mouths today when the Saints come rolling into town as the last time these two teams met the Saints cruised to a 56-2 victory in week 1 of the 2009 season.
Kick-off this afternoon in Melville is scheduled for 4:00pm.
