The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce the return of the annual Showcase for the 2009-10 season.
This year, the event has been moved back two months from years previous and it has been moved to an SJHL centre as the Battlefords North Stars have assumed the role of host.
A hiatus of the Showcase in 2008-09 resulted in an overwhelming response from hockey scouts at the college, minor pro, and NHL level that caused the SJHL to reassess the great value of this unique weekend on all fronts, including economically and for player development; keeping in mind part of the charm of this event is the ease for scouts to see all the talent the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has to offer.
Plans were, subsequently, put in motion to revamp the Showcase for 2009-10 with the Battlefords North Stars stepping up to be the host during a period of the season that better reflects the make-up of each team as far as roster composition.
SJHL President Laury Ryan states, “The SJHL is pleased to be back with the Showcase. I thank the Battlefords North Stars Executive, host sponsor Strike Energy, and league partner National Hockey League, for stepping up and enabling the league to provide this opportunity for our players and the scouting community.”
From Thursday morning at 11am and going until Saturday night’s final game at 7:30pm; there will be twelve SJHL games played at the Civic Centre.
