Morning Water Cooler

Maybe you're hanging out by the water cooler this morning or having some cheese toast. Either way welcome back to the blog.

-----

It's Thursday and I'm still hearing how great the AC/DC show was in Regina. The people that I've talked to who went to the Rolling Stones but not to AC/DC say that there is no way AC/DC could have possibly been better. The people who went to both seem to disagree.

For $39.99 you can purchase a Philadelphia Eagles jersey for dogs that can be customized with Michael Vick's name and number on the back.

This is no joke. NFLShop is selling the jerseys. Bob Molinaro of the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot says "Final score: Irony 1, Good Taste 0."

There has been plenty of buzz about the new site www.saskgridiron.com. If you don't know by now, it's a project that I've started to help promote and cover 9-man high school football in the province. Check it out and voice your opinion on the forum.

I've been listening to Bob McCowen alot on the Fan 590 in Toronto. I pick up the podcast off of iTunes. He's been talking a lot about the Phoenix Coyotes and feels that Balsillie could be the only bid left come September 10th. It looks like that may in fact still happen after Reinsdorf pulled out. The BlackBerry billionaire still feels that he can move the team to Hamilton to start the season. Good luck.

Some high school teams are hitting the gridiron for exhibition play on Friday. Foam Lake plays Melville in a night game under the lights. Sweet!

It's pretty quiet these days on the SJHL front. Either not much is happening or there is little coverage of it anywhere. Teams are busy though preparing for training camp which opens tomorrow.

-----

Are you going to check out the New York Islanders training camp in Saskatoon? I'll be there. I think it's a little more intruding now that Tavares was drafted. It'll be great for the city and for the young hockey fans too.

Up until last weekend I had no idea there were boat rides on the river in Saskatoon. What a great idea. We were in the city for a wedding (the fourth I'd been to in five weeks) down by the river and noticed the boat rides. Naturally we took a ride and it was great. It cost somewhere around $20 a person but it lasted a good hour. It's a great date idea if you're looking for something a little different than dinner and a movie plus you get to see a view of the city that you may have never seen.

It's Grandma's birthday today. Happy birthday Grandma! Don't tell her but we got her a ton of scratch 'n' win tickets. She loves them and so do I.

-----

Have a great day...
