Apple Sauce for Breakfast

It was minus 12 degrees Celsius when I woke up this morning. It's almost time to start plugging in the Grand Am. For those of you who aren't loyal listeners you should start plugging in your vehicle between -16 and -20. You also only need to plug in the car 2 hours before you're ready to go. Plugging it in overnight is a waste.

A few things to look forward to this morning:

- The Canucks are in Fort St John on Sunday night and I'll have the broadcast for you live on Peace FM.

- Dawson Creek Pee Wee Rep team is hosting a tournament starting today at 4:45pm. The home team hits the ice at the Memorial Arena at 6:45pm. I'll post the tournament schedule later in the day.

- Chetwynd Pee Wee Rep team is hosting Grande Prairie on Sunday at the Chetwynd and District Recreation Centre. Game time is 1:45pm.

- CFL WDSF: BC Lions @ Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday afternoon. Pretty sure kick-off is 2pm.

If you would like an announcement made on the blog or your game mentioned all you have to do is fire me an e-mail: darren@peacefm.ca.

I'm working on lining up the debut of Sportsline. Hopefully we can get this thing going soon! Looking at Monday evening around 6pm or 7pm.

I'll post the pee wee tourny schedule in a bit.

Have a great day!

Halloween Photos

Not sure what I'm supposed to be but Megan is a wizard. She had a cool sorcerer's want that lit up.

Springs is dressed up as "Superdog". Roz made her outfit. Great work. You can see a tiny bit of the yellow cape on the back. Solid.

Canucks 5, Navigators 3

Great game tonight in Peace River. The Canucks come from behind three times in the game and win for the third straight time. Jason Higson and Charles Radke had a pair of goals each in the victory.

I'm wiped and will post a bit more on the game in the morning.

goodnight

Canucks 6, Vipers 2

SEXSMITH -- The puck played tricks early and Charles Radke had plenty of treats as the Dawson Creek Canucks skated past the Sexsmith Vipers 6-2 Friday night.

The tricks came in the first three minutes of the game when the Vipers threw the puck towards the net from behind the goal line in the corner and it somehow found a way behind Tyson York who was between the pipes for Dawson Creek.

It took nearly the entire period for the Canucks to answer but answer they did. On the power play Charles Radke (9th) (Colter Mclean, Reid Smith) walked out from the corner and put a shot past Vipers goaltender Spencer Jebb into the top corner to tie the game after one. It wasn't tied for long. On their second power play of the game the Canucks' Ryan Walker (2nd) (Tyson Stefanyk, Lucas McKenzie) buried a rebound past Jebb to take the lead 2-1. It was also the game's Safeway turning point. In the final half of the second, Dawson Creek would get markers from Colter McLean (9th) (Radke, Smith) and Charles Radke (10th) (Smith) to lead 4-1 after forty minutes.

Sexsmith would cut the lead to two early in the final stanza but the Canucks would soon put it away. Reid Smith (9th) (Nathan Bomben) restored the three goal lead and then Charles Radke (11th) (McLean, Tyson Keen) would complete the scoring with his hat trick goal on the power play.

Canucks goaltender Tyson York made 18 saves on 20 shots in the victory. The Canucks power play improved and went 3 for 5 while the penalty kill was good on 2 of 3 kills.

A pair of bouts on the fight card tonight. It started with Mike Bouchard and Ricky Bohning. Bohning got the decision in a close fight. The main event involved Reid Smith and Lukas Heikan. Both guys threw some big hits but Smith got Heikan's helmet off and was delivering repeated uppercuts and hard rights. Smith eventually got the jersey over Heikan's head an get's the decision.

Three stars from the broadcast: 1) Charles Radke 2) Reid Smith 3) Tyson Stefanyk

Next up for the Canucks will be a date with the North Peace Navigators Saturday night. I'll be on the air with the pregame show at 7:45pm (AB time) on Peace FM and the play by play will start at 8:00pm (AB time) on Peace FM.

=====

I'll be showing up late to the Halloween party tonight. Hope everyone's still awake. Better late than never I guess.

Have a great night and I'll post some Halloween photos tomorrow.

Tuesday morning

I'm a little weak in the lips this morning.  If you were listening to the hit and miss morning show then you'd know what I'm talking about.  A little stutter during the events calendar provided a laugh at my expense.

My Titans are 7-0 after a big 31-21 win over Indy last night.  It's pretty nice to get to watch the Titans on MNF because you never see them any other time.

=====

Tonight it's the local all candidates forum for the upcoming election in Chetwynd so I'll be there tonight.

I'll be working on the power rankings this morning and possibly have them for you this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Have a great day!

Sportsline postponed

We hope to debut the show next week.  I'll work on the details and get back to you on what the plan is for next week.

Watching some MNF at the moment and my Titans are on.

Have a great night!
